ChimeraX is not supported on Windows 7 as indicated on the ChimeraX download page where it says Windows 10. Microsoft declared Windows 7 was end-of-life (no security fixes) in January 2020. Tom

My OS is Window 7 and I have no trouble running ChimeraX 1.2.5.
