Hi Amith,
Just as a tip, almost all user interface actions in ChimeraX log the equivalent command, so using the menu item Select→Invert logs the command that Tony mentioned -- though it doesn't include his useful explanation of '~'. :-)

I am looking for a way to invert selection without reaching for the tool bar. I would like to know if there is a way to invert selection via the select command ( or some other command)
