The help command can display an arbitrary web page (the topic can be a http/https URL) in the help viewer. So the button could pop up a page and the page could have command links in it as well as documentation. That's essentially how of the tutorials are done. And if the web page were kept in github, it would be easy to share and keep up to date. -- Greg On 3/8/2024 1:16 PM, Elaine Meng via ChimeraX-users wrote:
Hi Oliver, I only know of "log" to put some text or HTML in the Log, and "buttonpanel" to create a panel with buttons that execute commands, with labels on the buttons.

I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C. Meng, Ph.D. UCSF Chimera(X) team Resource for Biocomputing, Visualization, and Informatics Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry University of California, San Francisco

Hi,
Is there a command in ChimeraX to launch a notepad? Or to display some text? I would like to make a button that will launch a little window with some info about shortcuts and the like.
In Chimera, there was a notepad (the contents of which could be saved with a session) - does something similar, or some kind of custom info dialog, exist in ChimeraX?
Cheers Oli
