Dear Lionel, Of course a lot of people would want an easy graphical interface to movie-recording, and in fact it has been discussed many times by our team and is listed in our "missing features" that we would like to add, viz "animation GUI": <https://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/progress.html> However, it is by no means straightforward, as ChimeraX is re-implemented from scratch and everything would need to be done somewhat differently (in terms of code, I don't mean the functionality per se). The Chimera Movie Recorder interface was the product of hundreds of man-hours by at least 3 programmers, none of whom are still in our group. In contrast, the older Chimera version has an intuitive, user-friendly interface for making simple and effective animations.
