Hi Carlos,
When you use the eye-dropper to pick a color in the Mac color chooser panel it reports the hex code for the exact color on the screen. But that color includes a brighness that depends on the lighting ChimeraX is using, parts of a ribbon or atom not facing
the viewer will appear darker and parts facing forward will appear brighter. So if you then apply that color to some other object, e.g. a different atom it won't actually come out looking the same as the ribbon or atom you got the color from because the brightness
will not match.
The ChimeraX commands
info atomcolor sel
#1/A:351@OH color #ff0d0d
info rescolor sel
#1/A:351 color #d2b48c
will give the actual atom or ribbon color of the selected atom or residue without being modulated by the lighting.

on the right color and click. Once the color has been cloned, Elaine's strategy can be used to save it for later use.
