Dear all, pardon me if this has already been answered elsewhere, but I failed to find any information about this in the publication, webpage, or the mailing list archive. Is there a way to generate images of ray-traced maps in ChimeraX? I was often using it in Chimera but I can't find the option to do it in ChimeraX. Was it not included as a feature? Many thanks! Juraj

Hi Juraj, There isn’t a ray-tracing option in ChimeraX, but other high-quality rendering options: shadows and/or ambient occlusion. You can try them out by clicking different icons in the Graphics tab of the Toolbar. <http://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/tools/graphics.html> Even in Chimera, I personally would not recommend the ray-tracing option because I could get clearer, better-looking images without it. I would use the direct rendering in Chimera, usually with silhouette edges. You can also turn on interactive shadows in Chimera. I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C.
