Change default colour cycle for EM maps

Hello all, I am looking for a way to change the qualitative colour cycle in ChimeraX from the default (grey, yellow, blue, purple, pink, …). I have flicked through the online documentation, but have not yet found a solution. Many people must have desired to do this at some point, right? Any advice is welcome! Best, James

Hi James, I just now added the initialColors option to the volume command and the volume defaultvalues command. Both commands do the same thing. Here is an example volume defaultvalues initialColors salmon,lime,#ff805c save true The "save" option is needed in order to save the colors for future ChimeraX sessions. This will be in the November 7, 2023 daily build. It is also possible to change the Python code of your current ChimeraX to use different colors. On Mac you would edit the initial_colors value in this file ChimeraX-1.6.1.app/Contents/lib/python3.9/site-packages/chimerax/map/defaultsettings.py Tom
