Regarding the issue of residue display

There are gaps between adjacent residues sticks and cartoons. How should this problem be solved? Looking forward to your reply. Thank you!

Hello, There isn't a simple way to close the gap between a ribbon segment and stick backbone atoms. The ribbon is a smoothed path that may not pass through the exact positions of the backbone atoms, and also, there is no ability to adjust where the ribbon segment for a given residue starts and stops (location of the boundary between one residue's ribbon and the next residue's ribbon). However, it may look better if you show the ribbon for the residue at the same time as its backbone atoms. You can enable this with the "cartoon" command option "suppressBackboneDisplay false" <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/cartoon.html> ...for example, commands: open 1gcn show :5,14-16 cartoon suppress false ... you could make the cartoon partly transparent if that helps, for example: transp 40 targ c I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C.
