Dear ChimeraX-users, I have a question about saving the scene as obj file. In the traditional Chimera, I was able to generate obj file with texture by simply clicking 'save' button. I tried to save obj file simply by typing *save ~/Desktop/file.obj . *I generated obj file but it does not show texture - basically black &white. I was hoping to find some more information on the user guide but I did not find much. Could somebody please help me with this problem? Thank you, Raphael

Hi Raphael, As you have seen, ChimeraX and Chimera obj export are not the same. Chimera (but not ChimeraX) obj export also saves an mtl file with one color per surface. Chimera obj export only includes surfaces, not other objects. ChimeraX obj export includes other objects besides surfaces (ribbons etc.) but currently not colors. This is mentioned in the ChimeraX user guide, although you’re right it doesn’t say much about it! <http://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/save.html#formats> Best, Elaine ----- Elaine C.
