Hi, I am wondering if there is a way to create custom palettes for use in ChimeraX. Please suggest. Thanks Regards Abhilash.

Hi Abhilash, There isn't a way to create a custom palette with a name for that palette, but effectively yes, you can directly specify a series of any colors that you want as the palette in commands with a "palette" option (color byattribute, rainbow, mlp, coulombic, probably others). For example: rainbow palette cornflowerblue:red:gold:white ...where that example uses color names, but you could also use hex codes, etc. as detailed in the link below on how to specify colors. How to specify palettes in such commands <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/color.html#palette-options> How to specify colors: names, hex codes, etc. <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/colornames.html> You can also create custom color names with the "color name" command: <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/color.html#name> I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C. Hi Abhilash, I made a feature request to add a command for defining color palettes. It would let you name them and save them in your ChimeraX settings. We should have this but have lots of other things to work on so it may take some time before it gets added. https://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/trac/ChimeraX/ticket/4419 Tom
