unroll the helical structure

Dear colleagues, When one has a helical structure, can it be unrolled, and can the new unrolled map be saved? Thank you. Kind regards, Dmitry

Hi Dmitry, Our expert is away this week, but I will try to answer. There is a "volume unroll" command but as far as I know it only applies to cylindrical unrolling, no special treatment of helicity. So I don't know if that is what you want or not. For details, see: <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/volume.html#unroll> It makes a new map model, which you could save like any other map: <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/save.html#map> I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C.
