
Hi, I have cartoon and map visible for a part of my molecule (one protomer from a tetramer). When I click on hide dust, the dust is hidden but at the same time the map appears for the rest of the tetramer. Is there a way to hide dust around the visible part of the map while keeping a part of the map hidden? Thanks, Andrea

Hi, Try using the surface dust command before surface zone, this should do what you want in this order. Hi Andrea, I don't think it is possible to combine the effects of the "surface zone" and "surface dust" commands. Both of them set which part of the surface is hidden without considering what part is already hidden. Each of those commands has an "update" option (default true) which causes the displayed part to update if the surface shape changes. Only one command can update the surface masking so the last command you run will do the updating. But controlling this update option also does not help because both commands set the parts of the surface to show and hide without regard to what was previously shown or hidden. Tom

Maybe the "surface zone" option maxComponents will help if you just want to show the largest surface patch. surface zone #2 near #1 distance 5 maxComponents 1 I just noticed that using maxComponents and then changing the surface shape (e.g. threshold level change) shows the whole surface again instead of just updating the zone for the new surface. I fixed that in the daily build and 1.7 (November 28 builds). Tom
