Dear ChimeraX team, I'd like to know if it is possible to save a colored file of pdb into stl, because when I save the file as stl, chemierax saves it as a monocolor structure. Actually, my intention was to 3d print a hydrophobic structure of small protein but labeled with one letter code label and position of the amino acids. Something similar to the following image: [cid:4c34bc91-300a-456c-8583-ab4de7f1b1d9] Kind regards Haydar

Hi Haydar, The STL format does not support color. You might instead write out GLTF (suffix .glb) or VRML (*.wrl) from ChimeraX which include colors. The format you need depends on what your 3D printer software will accept. The residue labels are just floating text, they are not embossed on the surface, so they cannot be 3D printed on the model unless they can written onto the curved surface. ChimeraX does not have a way to paint labels onto the curved surface. Tom
