Installing ChimeraX on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Hi all, I got a shiny new machine with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, unfortunately the regular repositories do not include libffi7 and that causes a failure when installing the 22.04 package. I have also tried to run the generic Linux 64 bit version but fails to load because the libffi.so.6 file is not found. Any ideas on how to proceed? Thanks Mario J. Borgnia

Update, 24.04 ships with libffi8 instead. I was able to hack my way around the generic binaries by symbolically linking libffi.so.8 to libffi.so.6. Looking forward to a clean install with an Ubuntu 24.04 specific package. Thanks!

FYI, I'm working on a Ubuntu 24.04 version of ChimeraX that should have been in the daily builds already. So it will be available soon. -- Greg On 5/2/24 09:43, Mario J. Borgnia via ChimeraX-users wrote:

Hi Greg, I am still having problems installing: still requiring libffi7 instead of 8

My mistake. It will be fixed in tonight's build. -- Greg On 5/2/24 15:49, Mario J. Borgnia via ChimeraX-users wrote:
