Hi How to color different domains in a structure in ChineraX. I tried selecting residues on the sequence and can get an outline over the selection but how do I color different regions and keep all of them differently colored plus save the work? Thanks Sent from my iPhone with lots of typos and autocorrect nonsense - my apologies...
Hello Vojo, Of course you can color different parts different colors. If you are choosing parts by selection: The Actions menu works on the current selection, so you could then use menu: Actions... Color...[choose which color]. You can also specify the parts to color in the "color" command, and you can limit whether it applies to atoms, ribbons, and/or surface with the "target" option. Examples: color /A:10-130 hot pink color /B:12-49 dark sea green target r See color command: <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/color.html#simple> See specifying chains, residues, etc. in the command line: <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/atomspec.html> See also color names: <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/colornames.html> You can save your work as a ChimeraX session, and you can also save image files. See <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/save.html> You may want to try some tutorials to become more familiar with the program: <https://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/tutorials.html> I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C. Forgot to mention, you can also specify the current selection as "sel" in commands. Example: color sel gold target a Elaine
