Labels of selected residues even with their model name

Hi, I have used matchmaker with four loaded models to compare the side chains orientation of some selected residues. It is possible to label the selected residues even with the information of the model name they belong to? Thanks. Saverio

Hi Saverio, You can create "2D labels" that contain any text that you want, and move them around with the mouse using the "move label" mouse mode. See the "2dlabels" command help: <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/2dlabels.html> You would need to specify the text in the 2dlabels command (model name or whatever else you want to include). 2D labels can also be in different sizes and colors, and include symbols and arrows. However, these labels don't move around with the structure. Instead they are just placed in the plane of the screen, similar to adding labels later with Photoshop or other image-editing software. So you probably want to get the structures in the desired positions for your figure first, and then add the 2D labels. I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C. Hi Saverio, Elaine’s suggestion to use 2D labels is going to look better and work better in most situations, but if for some reason you want 3D labels, you can label selected residues with their structure name with Actions→Label→Residues→Custom Text and then typing in "{0.structure.name}” (without the quotes) into resulting dialog’s input field. --Eric Eric Pettersen UCSF Computer Graphics Lab
