Recently, my group showed that a fast Fourier transform may be used to quickly calculate binding free energies (J. Comput. Chem 2018 (39): 621-636). Our article describing this approach was selected for the cover of JCC, recommended by F1000 as being of special significance in its field, and forms the basis of a recently-awarded NIH grant. I am looking for a capable and enthusiastic postdoc to develop and apply this innovative approach to protein-protein binding free energies. The postdoc will also have the opportunity to and be expected to help mentor graduate and undergraduate students, write papers on the research conducted, and present at scientific meetings.
Qualifications for the position include experience with (bio)molecular modeling and programming (preferably python), proficiency with statistical mechanics, and demonstrated ability to write scientific manuscripts (preferably as first author). A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or a related area is required before starting the position.
The position will be at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, starting January 2019 or later. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Presently, funding for this position is expected to last for about four years.
