Bioinformatics Software Developer : Mapping genetic variants to protein structures Group of Prof Mike Sternberg Department of Life Sciences South Kensington Campus Imperial College London
Salary £35,140-£43,350 per annum
Applications are invited for a Bioinformatics Software Developer to join the Structural Bioinformatics Group. The post holder will work as a member of a small team developing the software for the PhyreRisk portal which will provide a dynamic web portal to deliver to the community a resource relating human genetic variation, disease, protein structure and biological pathways.
You must have a Masters in bioinformatics or a closely related discipline in computational biology or vocational qualification and experience in a relevant role. A PhD Degree (or equivalent) in bioinformatics or a closely related discipline in computational biology is desirable. You must have demonstrable strong programming experience developing a substantive dynamic web site to a professional standard using HTML/JavaScript/Django and server side languages (Java, Perl-CGI) applied to a biological problem is essential. You must also have a proven programming experience that results in the development of at least two of the following within a biological context: (i) a substantive and robust algorithm, (ii) a substantial dynamic web-site or (iii) a substantial relational database.
This is a full time position, funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 36 months. Closing date is 6 November 2016 (midnight GMT)
