I am contacting you to make you aware of a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy. Perhaps someone you know may be interested in pursuing this opportunity. The position is at the level of Full Professor and will serve as Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is one of two departments within the College of Pharmacy. Our faculty members are engaged in competitive research and the education and training of professional and graduate students, fellows, and post-doctoral fellows.
 
The successful candidate will have a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, medicinal chemistry or related biomedical sciences, excellent interpersonal skills and evidence of strong leadership and management skills. The candidate will have academic credentials sufficient to meet the rank of Professor, an outstanding established and ongoing research record, which includes a track record of extramural funding and proven abilities to foster pharmaceutical and biomedical research.
 
The Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is responsible for the Department’s strategic planning, budget, fiscal management, policies and procedures, communications, recruitment, and faculty and staff annual performance and development. Additionally, the Chair is responsible for ensuring faculty contributions to teaching, University/College/Department service, and research.
 
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center is located in Memphis, TN, an economically vibrant center, with a metropolitan population of more than 1.3 million, reflecting the richness along the bluffs of the mighty Mississippi River. The College of Pharmacy is ranked among the top 20 colleges of pharmacy in the country by US News and World Report. This position is available immediately, but the start date is negotiable. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The combination of the Van Vleet Endowed Professorship and Chair position is also negotiable.
