Thank you in advance, Emil ================== Three post-doctoral fellowships in Biology of Human Diseases The Departments of Biological Sciences, Genetics and Biochemistry, and Physics at Clemson University are seeking three exceptionally talented new investigators, who hold a PhD in relevant fields. This unique opportunity exists for PhD graduates and postdoctoral fellows with a special interest in "The biology of human diseases: mechanisms, diagnosis, and personalized medicine", who aspire to become tenure track faculty in the near future. The fellows will be mentored by NIH funded researchers and trained in writing successful research grants, management of budgets and running a laboratory. We are especially looking for a computational biophysicist (3D structure modeling, energy calculations, MD and in silico virtual screening), an experimental biochemist (molecular cloning and protein purification, protein stability, enzyme activity, binding efficiency, enzyme kinetics, and structural determination) and an experimental biologist (cell and molecular biology/zebrafish model). These positions are part of the "Biology of Human Diseases" initiative at Clemson University to understand the molecular basis of human diseases and will provide the opportunity to development a pipe-line for diagnostics and treatment of genetic disorders. Postdoctoral fellows will have access to excellent experimental facilities and a supercomputer cluster. These positions are intended to act as a springboard for fast-track tenure track faculty positions and accepted post-doctoral fellows are required to submit a NIH Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00). The positions are for an initial period of one year with possible appointment for an additional two years depending on satisfactory progress. The postdoctoral fellows will also help to train students in the participating departments. A competitive stipend inclusive of benefits and funding for research are offered according to field and experience.
