I don’t have a Catalina system to test this on at home, and it’s not quite as convenient as the double-click thing, but you may be able to drag the file from the Finder and drop it on the Chimera icon in the Dock (not on the Chimera window itself). That certainly works on pre-Catalina systems. --Eric Eric Pettersen UCSF Computer Graphics Lab

Hello Tom,
Yes, I am using macOS Catalina. Thanks for letting me know. I will use ChimeraX in future sessions.

Hi Dominique,
Are you using macOS Catalina? We have seen that a macOS update broke opening files by double clicking on the file icons in Finder. Unfortunately we have no funding to maintain Chimera so only critical fixes are made and I don't think this is going to count as critical. Our newer ChimeraX software opens the files correctly and all our effort is towards developing it with a 1.0 release coming next month.

Hello,
I used to be able to open a map from any folder by clicking the file into an open chimera session but now it either opens in a separate chimera session or not at all. Is there a way to fix that?
