Hi all, I was wondering if any of you knew of a way to determine exactly what atoms occur on the surface of a molecule or how to get the exact charge at a point on a surface. Thank you, Nikolay Rodionov

Hi Nikolay, This post from the Chimera mailing list describes how to find the atoms that touch the molecular surface. http://plato.cgl.ucsf.edu/pipermail/chimera-users/2006-February/000702.html The surface doesn't have charge associated with it. I guess you mean the electrostatic potential at a point on the surface. Here's a Chimera mailing list message about how to do that. http://plato.cgl.ucsf.edu/pipermail/chimera-users/2011-February/006000.html The Chimera documentation web page http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/docindex.html has an entry for searching the mailing list which allowed me to find these two messages by searching for atoms at surface and potential at surface point.
