Commands not working
Hello,
I am new to this program and am learning the commands. However, when I type the commands from the tutorial, they don't work. For instance, when I do "starthttps://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/current/docs/UsersGuide/midas/start.html Side View" it registers it as an unknown command. Also, when I do the command "color hot pink :lys", it says it does not know what the residue is. Am I missing anything?
Thank you for your time.
Best, Cobey Heinen
Hi Cobey, You are looking at the Chimera manual. ChimeraX is a different program than Chimera and the commands are different.
So, if you're actually using ChimeraX, make sure you are looking at the ChimeraX User Guide and tutorials, not Chimera's! You can open them from the ChimeraX Help menu, or see the copies on our website here:
https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/index.html https://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/tutorials.html
In ChimeraX, for example, you would use:
tool show "Side View" color :lys hot pink
All of the ChimeraX commands are explained in the User Guide, e.g. for the above:
https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/ui.html#uishow https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/color.html

P.S. you can also learn ChimeraX commands by using the graphical interfaces, toolbar icons, and menus, which will show the corresponding commands in the Log.
