Dear Friends,
I am writing to tell you about some exciting opportunities for growth in the general area of quantitative biology at U.C. San Diego. Attached is a joint ad for 5 experimental searches at an assortment of levels being conducted across biology, physics, and chemistry, as well as two senior theorist positions (one in physics, another in chemistry). These positions are a part of a multi-year initiative to establish a world-class program in quantitative biology, broadly interpreted as an iterated dialogue between quantitative experimentation and theoretical reasoning of living systems. A similar number of positions are expected in the next two years.
It is our goal to use these positions judiciously to assemble a dream team in quantitative biology, building on the vast base of biological research in the La Jolla basin, and leading the way to a new era in the biosciences. We encourage you to pass this information to interested junior and senior colleagues to pursue these opportunities together.
thank you and best wishes,
Terry Hwa
