command history pulldown very short
Hi There - i’m using chimerax on mac. Whenever i try to view my command history, either by tapping the up cursor or using the pop-out window, i can only ever recall 16 previous commands despite being set to remember 500 commands. However, the command file in ~/Library/Application Support/ChimeraX/commands contains (at least) 500 commands. Can you help? Alan
Hi Alan, The pop-out Command History window is scrollable and resizable. Scrolling/resizing still only shows 16 commands? Trying right clicking on the window (control-click for a one-button mouse) to bring up the context menu and uncheck the "Typed Commands Only" menu entry. Do more commands appear? --Eric Eric Pettersen UCSF Computer Graphics Lab

Hi Eric - scrolling/resizing still only shows limited number of commands (maybe more than 16 - i count 25 now). Right clicking to uncheck “typed commands only” does make a huge list now, albeit not the ones i’m keen to recall. Hi Alan, Well ChimeraX always remembers all commands issued, including those generated by menus/toolbar/tools. The default limit of 500 applies to those commands as well as the ones you type. So you might want to increase the remembered-commands limit to something like 5000 to have a better chance of being able to retrieved a typed command you're looking for. --Eric

Ah ok! I didn’t appreciate that the 500 stored included non-typed. Thanks for your quick help!
