Double and Triple Bond Stick Style

Dear ChimeraX, I was just wondering why there is no way to represent a double or triple bond in either the ligands or the protein amino acids when viewing as a Stick or Ball-and-Stick representation? I sometimes use Chimera or ChimeraX to make visuals for my lectures, and the students often have difficulty in understanding due to the absence of the multiple bonds. I would love to have the ability to represent the double or triple bonds with multiple lines between the atoms. Thank you, Chase Smith ... Quest 2 Support?

Hello, my name is Blaine Hewitt. Now I know that you have stated previously that you have no intention of bringing support to the Oculus Quest. Which is completely understandable since I know that not only would you have to develop around a completely new Operating System but another CPU architecture and much much more I assume. But with the soon release of the Oculus Quest 2 and it's new XR 2 chip-set makes a pretty good argument for it. As this would allow for much easier use in education (as is what I am attempting to do with it). I think it will be even easier now to push updates with SideQuest <https://sidequestvr.com/> being relatively simple to setup. I know that another (Naome <https://blog.matryx.ai/nanome-on-quest-public-beta-is-now-available-b546321…>) program is already available on the platform. But I do like your program a lot more since it is able to be used for free unlike Nanome Pricing <https://nanome.ai/pricing/> which is... as to say unappealing to public schools (such as mine). I was was also thinking (sorry if I am becoming annoying at this point) that if you do make a version of the Quest that you could make that GitHub branch available to the public. As for example while I may not be great at understanding complex protein structures I can help to make the whole experience more user friendly. Anyways if you read this far thank you for taking time from your day to read this. Identifying symmetry of a model

Hi I am working with pdb id: 3cx5. This model is roughly C2 symmetric. Is there a way to identify the symmetry (or rough symmetry of a not-so symmetric model) of a pdb/ mmcif model and orient the symmetry axis to the axis perpendicular to the screen? On a similar note, say we select a 4 somewhat symmetry-related residues in this model and make 2 intersecting lines, is there a way to align these lines perpendicular to the perpendicular screen axis? Hi Yeping, **Please send ChimeraX questions to the chimerax-users(a)cgl.ucsf.edu address, *not* to chimera-users(a)cgl.ucsf.edu, because that makes people confused about which program we are talking about. Two more thoughts about your file: (1) you need to make sure the residue numbers in the file all match to your structure. I don't know which structure you are using so when I test it on some other structure that doesn't have all the same residue numbers, it does not work unless I change the match mode from "1-to-1" to "any". You might want to try using match mode "any". (2) looks like one residue has a high value 0.788 and all the others are very close to zero, so when I color the whole range the structure is all the same color (used for the low end) except for the one high-value residue. E.g. coloring by attribute entropy using palette blue-white-red makes the whole structure blue except for one residue red. mapping out water channels in chimerax

Hi, I am working on a membrane protein, and I am trying to map out water channels (responsible for proton conduction from one side of the membrane to another). I am currently doing this manually from one connecting water molecule to the next using the structural analysis/H-bond function. Is there an easier way to do this with 14 linked water/residues? Hi I'm trying to model the N-terminus of mature canine Apolipoprotein A-I using Chimera. However the actual sequence in uniprot is not that of the mature protein. (1) First you need to make sure the text file is the right format. It should be tabs (not just a space) before the residue number and between the residue number and the value, e.g. as described here: <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/formats/defattr.html> (2) Then (after the atomic structure is open), open the attribute file with the "open" command, e.g. with pathname of your file, or if you want use a file browser window to find the file, "open browse". It is easiest to first name the file ending in .defattr so that ChimeraX will know what kind of file it is supposed to be. <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/open.html#defattr> (3) then the Log should report that the attribute named entropy is assigned and you are ready to do the coloring.
